Palaces and War. To the 100th anniversary of the beginning of World War I

From 28.04.2014 to 29.04.2014
Peterhof

The meeting was held in the year of the centenary of the beginning of World War I. A major historical milestone that ended the period, that the famous historian Eric Hobsbawm called the "long 19th century", the war could not but affect the life of palaces and residences. Its events took place not only on the battlefield, but also in the palace halls, in the offices of state officials. The participants of the conference were invited to discuss the issues of representation in palaces-museums of the military history of states, especially the life of palaces during the periods of historic upheaval.
